Wedding Galleries

You’ll see this section updated quite a bit. Although I don’t have the time, means, or even hosting space to blog every wedding I shoot, I do the best I can to add all of my favourites to the highlights album.

A Wedding at Hattie’s Place
This is a venue in Vernon where I've never photographed a wedding before.     Which makes a lot of sense, because it's not a wedding venue. It's owned by the family, and over the last few months they've been landscaping and changing this little piece of Vernon to be a perfect, private, woodsy area. And I've got to say it really had an unreal feel to it.     This year I'm changing up a bit how I photograph. As you'll see in upcoming images (or the gallery, if you scroll all the way down to the bottom).     We start with our bride and her bridesmaids getting ready. The smell o ...

The Silver Star Wedding near Vernon, BC
I've often toyed with how I'm going to have my wedding. One of the ideas that keep coming back to me is to rent a large house or two for a weekend at Silver Star, have the ceremony in the back yard, and just have a weekend celebration with all my friends and family. With Tube Town, the hiking, and all the ski paths, there's a lot to do. Even 5 restaurants up in the village.   It's good to know I'm not alone with this idea. This lovely couple pulled it off so well. We started right in the thick of things. I arrive a little after 11:00am to meet up with the bride and groom.     I saw the incredible Jessie V ...

My Brother Got Married
Thanks to everyone who saw my sampler - it was a little late coming. Mostly because this year has been every kind of insane. I've shot more weddings this year than ever. I'm kind bummed out, to be honest. I'm gettings really itchy to shoot, even though it's icy cold outside. I'm sure the upcoming photography lessons will keep me just the right amount of busy.     This was quite the event - my brother getting married, and me as the best man. Certainly it's a change of pace to see myself in photos.     And let's not even talk about how paranoid I was about losing the photos. And a thousand other thi ...

From Sanctuary Gardens to Gellatly Highlights
Sanctuary Gardens is one of my favourite places to shoot in Kelowna. There's all this tall brush, in this picturesque scene atop a mountain in West Kelowna. Our day starts with a few ring shots.       Just outside the venue where we set up, I saw some mushrooms. Always take advantage of your environment, but make sure you have more than one location. In case you've been taking too much advantage of your environment.       We found a great place for the dress photo near the upstairs apartment.       Meanwhile, the girls were getting read ...

A Secret Elopement at Tantalus Vinyard in Kelowna
It's no secret I love elopements. Something about the secrecy, the story. These two came from way down south, just to experience our beautiful vineyards.       This particular vineyard is Tantalus Vineyard. Although they used to host weddings, it's now a very rare occurrence indeed. However, our beautiful bride sent such a lovely letter the owners couldn't resist. And did it ever pay off! I consider Tantalus one of the hidden gems in Kelowna. The owners are simply maniacal about organic, unsprayed grapes picked at just the right time. I chatted with them as they showed me the various spots around th ...

A Rainy Wet Wedding at Turtle Mountain Gallery
Thanks to everyone who visited the sampler! This highlights album will have more details shots (props to our amazing vendors), containing a whopping 170 photos. The final album is a lot more photos than that, so contact me if you were at the wedding and you'd like to be linked. Make sure you mention the bride and groom's name in the message!       We start our day with a few ring shots. I found some nearby candles and lit them. Later, talking to Bethany from Peace of Mind Weddings, she mentioned she knew exactly which ones I took and lit. The eye for detail that girl has is astounding.     ...

A Scottish Thistle Wedding at Silver Star
Weddings at Silver Star are great all year around. In the summer there's skiing, both Alpine and Nordic, a bike park, and many on-mountain activities. And of course, weddings.       This wedding especially. Some of you may remember this couple from a quick foggy engagement shoot we had some time ago. It did well on the Instagram. Real well. So good I posted another one, right here. And that got 496 likes. Check out the blog entry here.     And so we get into the dress. Would you look at that? There's many more photos below. I've got to say, this dress was like something straight out of a C ...

The O’Keefe Ranch Wedding Gallery
Our wedding started at the bride's house, about ten-minute drive from O'Keefe Ranch. It's one of my favourite places to photograph weddings. There's a 12 foot high corn maze, beautiful old houses everywhere, authentic machinery, a post office from 1912, and this beautiful old church.     The rings arrived just in time. The flowers matched the bride's dress. A creamy white.     There was quite the audience. More and more people gathered in the living room.             Soon, we were off to take a few photos before it was time to hit the ...

The Smokey Sunset Wedding in Coldstream
It's no secret that backyard weddings are among one of my favourites. Especially being near Coldstream, I end up seeing some incredible back yards. This one had the original homestead about 40 feet away from the house in the venue. It was attached to the barn. But we're getting ahead of ourselves.       I'm always in love with a good floral arrangement. Being a guy, you don't think it's something I'd really appreciate, but I do.  Hats off to Blue Sage Farm. And take a look at these Boutonnières.     So then we get into getting all dressed and ready. It went quickly. We had some natural ...

The Rubber Duck Wedding at Stoney Lake, Ontario
My adventures to this small Ontario town were well documented. It's no secret how much I enjoy travel - to the point where Canada and US travel is included in the Gold packages. At this point, I've shot so many venues that have a new one is worth it alone.     And this is the story. This couple's story. The first day I arrived, the bride gave me a hug and a care package. In the care package was a poncho, a water bottle, and rubber duck. All of which I used. Rubber ducks are part of this story, an important part. Every story has their twists, something that you can weave into the theme. Sometimes you have to search for i ...

The Sparkling Hill to Paddlewheel Hall Wedding
Thanks everyone for waiting. We had a lot of interest in the sampler, but these weddings do take a lot of hours to process correctly! There's culling, cropping, colour correcting, and the brightness maps. Just to name a few. I think everyone will be pleased at the final result. I know I sure am!     We start our day the way all great albums are started - with ring shots and dress shots. We started out at Sparkling Hill. The place is incredible - there are things to take pictures of everywhere. One of my favourite venues for sure.     The library, filled with all the latest and complete books in bo ...

The Old Barns and Classic Cars Gallery
Some of you may remember this couple from the Engagement shoot that we did not too long ago. Engagement shoots are a fun, easy way to for me get an idea of what the day will feel like.       The day was great. This is one of those albums that took me a lot of time to go over. There was so much to process, I didn't want to miss a single moment.       The morning was pretty calm. Kids running around, five bridesmaids. Suits, ties, dresses getting ironed.     Even the puppy was dressed up at his best.     Over at the bride's, there we ...

The Wakeboard and Boat Wedding
So we've got boats and motorcycles. I like to incorporate things I find around for the ring shots, and I found so much everywhere. Eventually, I decided the motorcycle was the way to go. Even as I write this, our bride and groom are in a cross-canada trip that they took right after the ceremony. Of course, on the motorcycle.       This is our ring shot.     Just married on the back of the Harley. Gotta love it. And then there was the boat. This was one well planned wedding.       The amount of planning was insane. The boat, the locations, it was all figur ...

The Military Wedding in Grindrod BC
I don't get to shoot many weddings in Grindrod. It's a sleepy little town full of fun little stores and a restaurant or two, consisting of about 1500 people. Small cabins, used as summer homes, dot the beach.     I was lucky enough to be hired by another photographer. This girl loves taking photos of her kids, but she wanted to love her daughter's day and have someone specifically around to capture the moments. My second shooter and I were more than happy to set it up.     I instantly fell in love with this old cabin. Right by the water, you can just tell from the character of the home all the gr ...

The Kelowna Waterfront Park Elopement
I've had my fair share of elopements this year. It seems to be a trend, and to be honest I really enjoy them. They're a little more stress free. This one takes place in Kelowna, at Waterfront Park.     I arrived in the thick of it. I love hand written home made vows. These were so beautiful.     Both were holding back tears as they were read.     And then, of course, the kiss. After a properly sanctioned 2 minutes exactly for hugging and congratulations I started on the ring shots.       Then I borrowed them for some waterfront photos.   ...

A Country Cowboy Wedding at Lone Pine Ranch
What a wedding this was! First off, I want to thank everyone who saw and requested the sampler - we had a whopping 977 clicks! I've heard of big weddings, and this was a pretty decent sized wedding, but oh man. This is how you know this couple has a lot of friends back home! And why wouldn't they? They were both awesome!     Huge shoutout to Bethany Armstrong from Peace of Mind Weddings. I've worked a few times with this girl, and I promise you no one else will work as hard as she does to get every detail of the wedding just right. The whole night she barely stood still for even a moment, running around, arranging gu ...

The Farm Fresh Dairy Country Wedding in Salmon Arm
Yes, this Salmon Arm wedding takes place in a real working dairy farm.     And it has everything a photographer could ask for. We had barns full of hay, fields of young corn, a 1967 Pontiac Beaumont, and a gorgeous couple.     The decorations were incredible too. Huge shout out to TTM events for putting together one of the most stunning floral arrangements I've ever seen. I know there's brides out there looking for vendors and ideas - check out this website for plenty of inspiration!         It was every kind of stunning. I've attended a wedding or two, ...

An Almost Rainy Wedding Wedding at Kelowna Quail Ridge
This wedding.   The start was all over Kelowna - a heritage house, a hair salon. We went next door to an apartment building to take photos of the dress and rings. On the way, we met the groundskeepers.. We were worried about taking photos on their property,  because technically we were trespassing. When we saw them watering plants and pruning in the distance, we knew we had to take action. I ran to them. And I must have looked like a sight - wedding dress carefully draped over one arm, and the rings in  a gold-coloured bag in my other hand.     I complimented them on their garden. The trees, all the different ...
